The Client: Kelsey Jordan

The Project: Her first portfolio site

The Vision: A bold, mystical portrayal of Kelsey’s creative essence and work as a writer

I first met Kelsey in our dorm rooms, during our first semester of the low-residency MFA program at Pacific University, and I came to see Kelsey as a poetry soulmate. Her poems are brimming with bodies of water and the women who are drawn to them. She’s the West Coast, oceanic, selkie magic to my Mississippi River siren songs, and her poetry belongs in my favorite poetry camp, which is “doesn’t take itself too seriously, with a good dash of humor, while still ripping your heart out.”

When Kelsey mentioned she wanted to create her first website, I went all-in on my proposal to her, because I knew we could create something truly magical together.

Services + Scope

—Custom Branding

—Artist Statement

—Artist Bio

—Logo Design

—CV/Resume Design & Edits

—Web Design and Layout

Kelsey and I were on the same page for the visual direction of her website, and we knew we wanted it to be a celebration of the ocean, watery mythology, and the vivid colors of a West Coast sunset. I pitched her on three different possibilities, she chose her favorite, and I refined and revised it to be aligned with her vision.

It was a joy to showcase Kelsey’s vision, voice, and vibe as a poet and writer in the digital realm. She was a dream client through and through, and I realized a new level of alignment when collabing with her. So if you’re a poet, writer, or water-obsessed-mystic looking to create a portfolio site, I’d love to hear from you.
